Preparing your iPhone to sell is easy, but your first step is to remove Find My iPhone so another person can activate the phone. Without removing your account first, the iPhone is unable to be activated and becomes equal to a paperweight. An expensive paperweight. Follow these steps to remove your account.
Note: You do not need to manually delete your contacts, photos, or any other iCloud data. When you reset your iPhone, all the data on your phone will be removed. Any data backed up to iCloud can be downloaded on another phone.
Step 1: Open Settings app and tap your name (iOS 10.3 devices and later)
Step 2: Tap iCloud, Find My iPhone, and slide the toggle to turn off
Step 3: Follow the prompts, enter the owner's Apple ID and password, then tap Turn Off
Step 4: Apple will confirm via email that Find My iPhone has been disabled from your device.
Now go to General, Reset, and Erase All Content and Settings. This will delete all the data on your phone.
